Australia Day - Boulia style
BOULIA'S traditional Australia Day breakfast was held at the Boulia Aquatic Sports Centre last Thursday.
Eight awards were handed out during the morning -
Marnie Hammond, better known as Mouse, was awarded the Achievement Award for her contribution to the Boulia Community. Young Sports Person was awarded to Cody Lincoln who competed in the 2011 Australian Quad Motor Cross Championships. Senior Sports Person was shared between John Brently and Narda Grover. For the first time ever Boulia hosted the Min Min Light Big Sky Festival Drag Racing and it was such a success the Boulia Drag Racers were awarded the Community Event of the Year. Cindy Nichols was awarded Organiser of the Year for putting together a magnificent display of memorabilia for the Festival. Jade Sacipovic was awarded Young Citizen of the Year title for her contribution as Turf Club Secretary, as a Rural Fire Auxiliary member, the P & C Treasurer title and for many hours helping with other events over the years. The 2012 Citizen of the Year went to Chas Roberts for his role as Vice President and now President of the Boulia Turf Club and ongoing Bar Manager for the Rodeo Community.
