A 46 -YEAR-old man is expected to face Mount Isa Magistrates Court today after he allegedly stabbed a woman repeatedly yesterday morning.
The 34-year-old woman was taken to Mount Isa hospital were she was in intensive care. She was expected to undergo surgery late yesterday.
Police received a triple 0 call at about 4.10am yesterday.
Police and ambulance arrived at a residential address in Walton Avenue to find a woman in the house with two stab wounds to her back and one to her arm.
Police said a stab wound to her back had perforated her lung.
A large kitchen knife was allegedly used in the incident.
The man was arrested at the address and charged yesterday afternoon with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and will face court today.
Police are expected to oppose bail.
Mount Isa police Inspector Paul Biggin said police would be on the lookout for people carrying weapons.
“There is no room in the society for people who go around carrying knives,” he said.
