THE Mount Isa Irish Club's gym has only been open for 63 days but business is booming at the rate of nearly 10 new members signing up per day.
Irish Club manager Bernard Gillic said he was pleased with how the Gym had developed in just over a month.
"It's great to see more Mount Isan's wanting to get healthy and exercise," Mr Gillic said.
"We originally invested over $100,000 on new gym equipment, transforming the old karaoke room to what is now our gym, and it has been very well received by the public in Mount Isa."
Mr Gillic said he believed the gym attracted residents who couldn't afford a gym before.
"We don't see our gym as being in competition with other gyms, as we only provide the equipment. Whereas they are full service gyms offering trainers, child minding facilities and classes."
Body Balance Health Club owner and manager Angela Zielinski said it was fantastic that the new Irish Club gym was getting more people through the door wanting to work out.
"The introduction of this new gym is something that will keep people moving in Mount Isa and I think that's fantastic."
