Isa stop for world travellers

11 May, 2010 08:06 AM
TWO Scottish cyclists who are attempting to ride around the world stopped for a well-earned rest in Mount Isa yesterday.

Margot Demholm and Ben Casson flew from the United Kingdom to New Zealand where they cycled the length of both islands.

They then caught a plane to Sydney and rode up the coast to Townsville before turning inland to eventually reach Darwin.

From there they will catch a plane to Bali, and then a series of ferries to south east Asia. Their journey will then continue across Asia, over the Himalayan mountains and into Europe.

The pair are raising money for a youth shelter in India along the way.

"It's something we had wanted to do for a long time," said Ms Demholm.

"Cycling is a great way to travel because you get to take your time and really take the country in."
