Minister to open government housing

07 Feb, 2012 07:01 AM
THE Minister for Government Services and Building Industry Simon Finn and the Member for Mount Isa Betty Kiernan will officially open a $1.7 million unit in Miles Street, Mount Isa, this morning.

Mrs Kiernan said the complex was constructed as part of the Government Employee Housing Scheme and would provide quality accommodation for local Queensland Health employees.

Mrs Kiernan said she had been advocating for additional accommodation in the district for government employees.

"Having good accommodation certainly helps in attracting and retaining quality staff," she said.

The four-unit complex built was by the Department of Public Works in Mount Isa and comprised three, two-bedroom units and one three-bedroom unit.

"This is one of a number of housing projects we are building in Mount Isa, including units in Gray Street and in Fourth Ave," Mrs Kiernan said.

Way to go ISA, more subsidised housing for overpayed Goverment employees to live in, whilst there are hard working families living in overpriced shit holes waiting in hope that they may secure something decent, whilst deciding if it is all worth the pain of living out here. WHEN will the housing development happen for we mere mortals. Oh hang on we have to wait in line while the blacks get their ghetto areas first.
