EVERYONE in Cloncurry is thinking pink this week in the lead up to the Ernest Henry Mining Curry Merry Muster Festival.
The town will host its annual mardi gras on Friday night followed by the Sexy Cowboy and Cowgirl competitions and a giant music concert at the Cloncurry Recreation Grounds.
You name it and you will probably see it in the Cloncurry mardi gras parade from Pink Panthers and Barbie dolls to marshmallows and ballerinas.
Schools, organisations and businesses are known for putting a lot of effort into their floats and this year the larger prize money on offer may draw even more entrants.
There will also be food and drink stalls in the street.
The mardi gras parade, which starts at 5.30pm, will be led by horses and cowboys and cowgirls who will be competing in the rodeo which starts at 4.30pm Saturday and goes late into the night with live music when the action ends.
Rodeo action will start again on Sunday morning and continue into the afternoon.
Singing sensation Leila Fisher will be the headline act at the recreation grounds. She will be supported by Michelle Vincent, Kyle Manning and Mike Carr.
Organisers have planned Friday with a family-friendly atmosphere ensuring everyone gets to enjoy the festival.
