During the last club meeting, seventeen dedicated athletes from Cloncurry travelled to Mount Isa to compete.
Mount Isa Athletics Club vice president David Scott said the visiting club attend the Mount Isa competition day at an opportune time.
"They picked a great time to come down as we were running hurdles this week, which is something they don't get to experience in Cloncurry as of yet," he said.
"As an added bonus, the older athletes we also try triple jump and hammer throw."
While the viability of the Cloncurry club is being assessed, its members are recognised at Mount Isa athletes and are vying for the same end-of-year trophies.
Club records are being kept separately so when Cloncurry does branch out on its own it will have its own set of local records.
Sergeant Mick Hughes from Cloncurry PCYC, who facilitates the fledgling club, said visiting athletes enjoyed the day.
"A few of the kids have already asked when we are coming back," he said.
"On that note alone I am guessing that they had a good time."
The day was a "personal best fest" with more than 183 PBs being recorded.
Jaxon Constantinou, Kirra Horsnell and Patrick Baker managed to achieve the coveted five from five personal bests.
The effort was particularly sweet for Constantinou, as he had fallen one PB short in the previous two meetings.
Mackenzie McCulloch, Ashlee Toms, Rhyley Wilson, Rico Waerea, Max Mills, Brianna Waerea, Jonah Donovan, Jakarra Carney and David Scott were all tantalising close with four from five personal bests.
Cloncurry athlete Sam Scobie will be presented with the meeting's Top Tot award after overcoming his fears and doing a great job in events.
Memphis Waerea, Sam Riddle, Jace Fraser, Katidjah Fraser, Rico Waerea, Jade Scott, Phoenix McMillan and Jakarra Carney all received legend certificats for their efforts on the day.
Two more qualifying performances for the development squad were recorded at the meeting, with 11-year-old Jade Scott (1.10 metre high jump) and 10-year-old Brianna Waerea (6.80m shot put) excelling.
Paul Smith was the only athlete to break a club record, beating his own hammer throw mark in the 50-54 year group with a throw of 21.17m.
11-year-old Emma Cursio and 12-year-old Daniel Grant were the best performers from Cloncurry on the day.
Cloncurry athletes start competing at 10am tomorrow while Mount Isa competitors start at 2pm.
