TOWNVIEW CNW will look to repeat their performance from Round 2 when they toppled Cavaliers to record its only win of the season in the Bell and Moir Toyota Cricket Association competition tomorrow.
Currently sitting on the bottom of the ladder, Townview CNW captain Clint Heuir said his side was still confident of making a mark in the competition.
"There is definitely still plenty of confidence and enthusiasm in the club," he said.
"Numbers at training have been great and the boys have been looking sharp in the nets and out on the field and they are itching to get back out in the middle after a long break."
In a boost for the club, top-order batsman Gavin Maher will be available for the rest of the season and Heuir said the experienced campaigner would be looking to have an impact in the second half of the season.
"Marsey has not fired yet and wants to get rid of the nickname he has been given of Daffy Duck due to a few failures," Heuir said.
"He is someone who can help us win a few games with his batting."
Heuir also pointed to Paul Scarsi, Dash Coetzee, Luke Isles and Billy Bailey as integral for a run at the finals while the side was looking at significant contributions from some of its rising stars.
"Juniors Cody Tulley and Brodie Germaine showed they could mix it with the older guys in the Twenty20 series and they will get a chance to play in the 40-over form as well," Heuir said.
Heuir said while the memory of Townview CNW's win against Cavaliers was a confidence booster, it would take an all-round team effort to repeat that performance.
"Cavaliers are a tough side to play because they share the workload," Heuir said.
"If one player fails, it seems there is someone else who steps up and does the job.
"We will need to take early wickets and set the foundations with a good start to our batting."
Cavaliers began to find some form in the 40-over competition after a slow start and will aim to grab a valuable win in order to look at defending their title.
Eli Jamieson, Shane McCarthy and Shane Mckay loom as influential players.
