THE Mount Isa District Bowhunters Club steps up its season with a fun shoot on Sunday.
Archers will be hoping to continue to hit the targets and rack up points towards the club championships.
While wet weather made things challenging at the last shoot, an Australian Bowhunters Association (ABA) sanctioned event, conditions look promising for the weekend.
Club president Shane Dunbar will be one person grateful for a dry morning.
Dunbar showed leadership above and beyond the call of duty while preparing the course for the ABA shoot.
While preoccupied trimming the grass, the Leichhardt River decided to start flooding with Dunbar on the far bank.
Unfortunately it meant four hours stuck on the wrong side of the refreshment supplies.
Members Bill Fenby, Lachlan Faulks, Rick Morrison and Graham Bird had strong shoots at the last outing and will look to build on a strong start to the year.
The Bowhunters club house is located on Lake Moondarra Road just past the grid and nominations need to be in before 8.30am.
ABA shoot results: Bill Fenby 756, Lachlan Fawkes 748, Rick Morrison 726, Graham Bird 714, Arty Fawkes 706, Robert Kupke 658, Darrin Graue 610, John Emmerson 582, Steve King Gee 578, Tony Copelin 578, Rex Whitehead 564, James Metsala 470, Chris Graue 470, Kerwyn Smith 466, Dane Emmerson 398, Jenine Emmerson 364, Luke Johnson 356, John Gour 341, Susan Johnson 292, Ryan Sandell 250,
