THE Normanton Gun Club has its sights firmly set on having a big season after a successful start to its 2012 calendar.
Club secretary Diane Reeves said the four event program held at the weekend drew a healthy number of competitors with some accurate shooting.
Wayne Reeves was on target as he cleaned up in the AA-grade events, Diane Reeves showed her pedigree in the A-grade but prizes were much more evenly distributed in the B-grade.
Don Kidd impressed in the C-grade where several new shooters also made their mark.
Reeves said the highlight of the day came in a shoot-off for placings in the Skeet Handicap Event.
"The handicap system allowed new and lower grade shooters to shine against the more experienced shooters, " she said.
"Don Kidd came out on top with Kevin Cardew and Brad Bird going skeet for skeet to claim the minor placings."
Reeves said Bird was particularly impressive in his first competitive shoot.
