Competitors had their first opportunity to attempt hurdles during the meeting at Sunset Oval, meaning no one was in contention for the Five from Five medallion.
This didn't stop five-year-old Jaxon Constantinou and nine-year-old Ben Horsnell from giving stellar performances.
Both athletes achieved an impressive four personal bests from the five events they competed in.
The long weekend affected the turnout, with only 84 competitors taking to the track, but 90 personal best performances were achieved on the day.
New club records were a rarity, with Nicole Dickson the only athlete to increase a standing record.'
Dickson's throw of 26.22 metres pushed the under 18 women's discus record out slightly, while 13-year-old Erin Faithful's hammer throw of 28.60m increased the newly-formed record in her age group, implemented due to new weight specifications.
Eleven Legend certificates will be presented this week to Denzil Perkins, Rico Waerea, Ngoni Kahondo, Sam Riddle, Erin Faithful, Jakarra Carney and Jonah Donovan.
Legend certificates are rewarded for bettering a predetermined time or distance, which is calculated roughly on the top 10-15 per cent of results from more than a decade of competition.
A number of local athletes have almost already amassed a full set of Legend certificates for the 2012 season.
If competitors acquire the certificates in all events available to them, Mount Isa Athletics Club will present them with a Total Legend trophy.
Club coach Ken Dickson said it was ofter harder for older athletes to get their hands on the gong.
"It's particularly difficult for older athletes as they have to excel in up to 13 different events," he said.
Four-year-old Les McMillan impressed onlookers with his throwing and was rewarded with the Top Tot award for the meeting.
Dickson and MIAC head coach David Scott made the journey to Cloncurry at the weekend to host a training session for the new club.
"We are impressed with the work being done there," Scott said.
"Cloncurry has more than 40 athletes spanning a vast age range and the club is getting more each week paying their registration fees."
Dickson said anyone interested in joining the Cloncurry club should contact Sergeant Mick Hughes at Cloncurry PCYC.
Mount Isa Athletics Club will conduct its fourth club day at Sunset Oval from 2pm this Saturday, and Dickson said people could still get involved.
"New registrations are accepted all-year round, so it's never too late to come down and try out," he said.
