The Mount Isa team will travel to Charleville next weekend to compete in the Queensland Outback carnival, from which a Queensland Outback team will be selected to play a Remote Area Rugby League outfit in a curtain raiser to the Intrust Super Cup match in Mount Isa on July 14.
It was announced last week that the Northern Pride will go head-to-head with Souths Logan Magpies at Alec Inch Oval, and selection in the Queensland Outback team would give local players the opportunity to play in front of what is tipped to be a huge crowd.
While 25 players have been named in the squad, a Mount Isa Rugby League spokesman said only 21 would travel to Charleville.
"Four players will be omitted [from the squad] and we will take 21 to the carnival," he said.
"Six players in the final 21 need to be under 20 years of age."
The Mount Isa squad:
Town: George Afeaki, Rohan Schulz, Kieran Punch, Troydain Dempsey, Dean Howard, Ben Watt, Marty Paulson, Tyler Donald, Neil Siddans, Bronson Smith, Clinton Farrell, Chris Klowss, Billy McConnachie, Timmy Daniels
Black Stars: Jeremy Borchard, Jacob Takurit, Dylan O'Neill, Sean Heffernan, John Viiga, Clinton Farlow, Alan Tokawa
Wanderers: Cody Saltmere, Walter Whippy, Kieran Gibbs, Taylor Rodger
In Mount Isa Rugby League action, Black Stars have their first run on Alec Inch Oval in several weeks tonight when they go head-to-head with Wanderers.
A combined Black Stars/Town team will battle Wanderers in an under 17 curtain-raiser.Kick-off in the A grade game is at 8pm.
