Neighbouring the Outback at Isa tourist centre, the Tribal Council has created a 'keeping place' for the history of the Kalkadoon people of the region.
Caretaker Barbara Sam said the keeping place holds an amazing collection of artefacts which have been carefully gathered and contributed.
"This is a wonderful source of information about the Kalkadoon tribe of this region and we are very proud to have put these displays together," Ms Sam said.
The building is under the trusteeship of the Kalkadoon Tribal Council and was closed for a period of time due to lack of funding, but is now open for business and ready to position itself amongst the tourist attractions of Mount Isa.
The centre is open from 8.30am to 1.30 pm Monday to Friday, with admission $2 for adults and free for children.
