The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) International Women's Day breakfast is about celebrating women's seccess in mining.
Event organiser Sophia Johnson said the QRC is committed to celebrating women's success in mining as part of their vision to increase retention of women in the industry.
Ms Johnson said the breakfast held in Mount Isa on March 8 will be held at the same time as the breakfast in Brisbane, which is expected to attract more than 800 women and supporters.
An award ceremony will take place in Brisbane and Ms Johnson said the Mount Isa event ladies wil be watching the awards via a live video feed.
The Resources Awards for Women (RAW) acknowledge and promote the contribution and achievements of women in the minerals and energy sectors while advocating the industry as a career option for women.
This year's awards feature a new 'Rising Star' category to recognise women who have been in the industry from one to five years.
Ms Johnson said it would be a wonderful opportunity to make new contacts and meet other women in the sector.
"Last year the breakfast had a great turn out including some school students who were very excited to see some of their class mates get awards in Brisbane," Ms Johnson said.
"It's a great way for women in our sector to get together and celebrate our contribution."
International Women's Day events will be held for Queensland's resources sector women in Brisbane, Mount Isa and Townsville.
The Mount Isa event will be held at Livingstone's Restaurant on Friday, March 8 at 7.30am.
