Along with the Western Bulls, the Blackstars entered the weekend deadlocked at the top of the Bell and Moir Toyota Mount Isa Cricket Premiership ladder, tied on 10 points.
However, the Bull's loss to the Cavaliers means Blackstars finish the season outright minor premiers, fitting as they are without a doubt the most dangerous team leading into the finals.
Townview CNW won the toss and elected to bat first, but found themselves in early strife with Jay Morris picking up two early wickets.
Morris removed both the openers cheaply as Townview found themselves 3/14.Mick Jessop and Ashley Perkins came together and combined for a healthy 95-run stand to alleviate the early pressure.
Perkins fell for a controlled 40 before Jessop and Tyrone Coetzee put together an equally important 69-run partnership in quick time.
Coetzee added 37 off just 31 deliveries while Jessop powered his way to a tremendous century. The innings closed with several more lusty blows and a useful cameo from Mick Jewell which brought the total to a more than useful 7/257.
Jessop remained unbeaten on 109 off just 87 balls, which also included four lusty sixes. For the Blackstars, Morris had the best of the figures with 3/32 from his allotted eight overs while Nathan Giles also chimed in with two wickets.
Similarly to the Townview innings, Blackstars got off to a slow start losing three early wickets. Coetzee was backing up his early batting effort with a threatening new ball spell, yielding two wickets to leave Blackstars 3/37.
From that point onwards, the Blackstars controlled much of proceedings as Ryan Battley and Andrew Lawrenson put together an 84-run partnership.
Battley's wicket gave Townview hope, but it only brought out Raj Gunallaine who proved more than useful with willow in hand.
Gunallaine and Lawrenson joined for the second consecutive half century partnership, as the pair added 54 for the fifth wicket before Lawrenson fell tragically short of a well-deserved century.
Lawrenson's innings ended on 99 as his entertaining 80 ball blitz included a whopping 16 boundaries. Giles joined Gunallaine and guided Blackstars home in the last over with five wickets in hand.
Giles continued on from where Lawrenson left off as he bludgeoned 47 from just 28 while Gunallaine added 31.
For Townview, Coetzee finished with 2/42 while Az Germaine also took two wickets, albeit at more than 10 runs an over.
Next week the Blackstars will play the Western Bulls for a spot in the Grand Final, while the loser of that fixture will take on either Townview or the Cavaliers, as they jostle for a Semi Finals berth.
