Mr Fulham said the comet would be visible for the rest of the week at about 8pm.
"It will move north every day by three or four degrees, but we should be able to see it for the next week or so and after that it will be too low," Mr Fulham said.
He said binoculars were the best way to see the comet tonight, when it appears just north of the copper stack.
