Unlike most other sports in the city, MIAC held a meeting despite the long weekend and club coach Ken Dickson said it was a strong turnout.
"We only saw a slight drop in numbers this week, which is good for a long weekend," he said.
"There were 81 athletes competing today and the PBs continued to fall."
In all, 132 personal bests were bettered during the meeting, with the top gong going to eight-year-old Stephen Cranston who set five personal bests from his five events.
The feat makes Cranston the sixth Mount Isa Athletics Club member to accomplish the feat in 2012.
With four out of five personal bests set, nine-year-old Ella Condren could not have come any closer to getting the fifth.
The junior athlete set an equal personal best time in the 100 metre sprint in an impressive effort, but was unable to shave any time off her previous best result.
Seven other athletes - Sienna Hume, Ethan Condren, Lachlan Hume, Connor Baker, Danial Butler, Mitchell Hujanen and Joshua Scott - also finished the meeting, which signalled the halfway point of the season, with four from five.
Hume rounded off a great meeting by qualifying for a Legend certificate after her 60m time.
For a tremendous shot put effort, Corey Fleming was the winner of the Top Tot award.
In a positive sign for the club ahead of the upcoming Athletics North Queensland carnival in Mackay, local records are continuing to tumble with impressive frequency.
Former ANQ development officer Cameron Clayton was the standout at the meeting as far as shattering records went.
After only moving to the city recently, Clayton set a new 1500m mark in the open division with a time of four minutes, 13.3 seconds.
Jacqui Kelly, another distance runner at the club, found form when breaking Holly Johnston's 800m record in the 15 years division with a time of 2:43.3.
Hailey Kokles ran a time of 16.7s over the 80m and in doing so, equalled the record in the 6 year female class.
Proving he can walk the walk as well as talking the talk, club coach and Masters athlete Dickson bettered his previous 200m and long jump records.
Dickson stopped the clock at 28.4s on the track and recorded a jump of 4.40m.
15 local athletes - including two from the new Cloncurry club - will be representing the North West at the ANQ North Queensland Games in a fortnight and several are tipped to feature on the podium in their respective events.
Clayton is one of the favourites to win the prestigious 1500m event and will then back up as part of the Northern Australia team in the open 5000m event at the Oceania Championships three days later, while 16-year-old Brianna Smith will use the event as a final hit out before heading to the championships to compete in the under 20 women's hammer throw.
Dickson said the club was still welcoming new athletes as the season progressed.
"We accept new registrations all-year round," he said.
"Potential athletes are invited to attend two free trial days before full registration is due."
The next Mount Isa Athletics Club meeting begins at Sunset Oval at 2pm on Saturday.
