Linda, Michelle, Janene and Nicki make up the awesome foursome making their way to Townsville for the 2012 McDonalds Running Festival in August.
En route they will be making their way to a better quality of life and raising money for the Ronald McDonald House.
Linda Malone, with four kids - the youngest only five years of age - runs a family-owned business with her husband and sits on several volunteer-based committees in Julia Creek.
A lady on a mission, Linda will still be finding time to train for the run amongst all her commitments.
Janene Fegan admits she is usually a fairly active lady who enjoys water skiing and taking on projects like house renovations.
This year, however, she has set herself a goal to get on the good path of health and train for the 2012 McDonalds Townsville Running Festival, and continue on to the 2013 Julia Creek Dirt and Dust Festival.
The Townsville Running festival will be a good halfway accomplishment on her journey, she said.
Janene said one of her main motivations for joining in the Chosen Ones is to be part of a team and support her team mates in their journey.
"It also gives me a kick in the bum to get out of the house on those cold Julia Creek winter days."
In between looking after her four children, running a business, doing shifts as a nurse at the local hospital and sitting on committees, Janene will be hitting the road running for the August 5 event.
Michelle Sollitt is juggling her training between looking after her three children, working at the local grocery store and volunteering on the Dirt and Dust committee.
For Nicki Vardy, having four young girls under the age of seven hasn't held her back.
She plays a big part in the Julia Creek community, is a nurse at the local hospital, works in the post office and with the home and community care, and is rated by appreciative locals as an excellent cook.
She said she still manages to motivate her team mate Janene to get out of bed in the morning and go for a walk.
The Julia Creek quartet is among 32 people chosen to inspire through dedication and commitment.
Each team will be asked to raise $1000 for the Chosen Charity, being the Ronald McDonald House in Townsville.
Each week " The Chosen ones" will blog on the Townsville Bulletin Website and give updates of their progress.
Their personal stories will be displayed on www.townsvillerunningfestival.com.
The 14th Running Festival will be held at the Tobruk Pool, The Strand, over two days, with distances ranging from a marathon to junior and an adult fun run/walk.
