CHILLY conditions in the North West failed to deter players as a strong field tackled Mount Isa Golf Club in a fourball Stableford aggregate event at the weekend.

While the thermometer kept low, some of the scores returned were red-hot, with Angie Sciascia and Auretta Perrin claiming the Jen Gallery trophy with their accumulated score of 72 points.
Mount Isa's golfing sisters, Alison Gordon-Dunbar and Annette Gordon, teamed up successfully once again to bag runners-up honours with 66 points.
Gordon and Sciascia capped of strong rounds by collecting the nearest to the pin prizes on the 10th and 17th holes respectively, while Sue Scott landed her tee shot on the second closest to claim the third prize on offer.
In the midweek 18-hole stroke event, Carol Fairweather welcomed back a return to form by carding a 72 nett to claim the TKJ Contracting trophy.
In one of the closest finishes recently, Ulla Allen finished one stroke off the pace to take runner-up honours.
With her short irons back on target, Gail Kum Sing won the pin prizes on the eighth and 10th holes, with Sue Scott taking honours on the 12th hole.
The women's monthly medals for July were announced last week, with silver division being claimed by Gail Kum Sing with 74 nett, while the bronze one gong went to Dianne Foot with 69 nett.
In a consistent month on the course, Foot was also named as the putting champion, only needing the putter 30 times.
