The internationally-renowned musicians held workshops with students from all the schools in the city and are deeply involved in the coordination of what is tipped to be a spectacular event in July.
The concert will be a Queensland Music Festival (QMF) production, in collaboration with the Mount Isa City Council, Music Groups of Mount Isa, and Xstrata.
James Morrison is the artistic director of QMF and said the repose he has seen from the community has been fantastic.
"The amount of talent and the number of people getting together is incredible," he said.
"As far of the scale of it, I don't think there is many cities i could walk into and say 'hey we are going to do a song, ' and get that kind of response.
"I think we are going to have to cap the choir at 400."
The festival will feature large-scale participation of local school and community music groups, a ute muster, a big band, special guests Troy Cassar-Daley, James Morrison, John Morrison, and will culminate in the 400-strong choir singing 'The Song of Mount Isa'.
Mr Morrison said he will be excited to see Troy Cassar-Daley perform with the Big Band.
"Think Michael Buble or Frank Sinatra, he does that brilliantly. This event will provide the opportunity to present Troy doing his own thing and then come back with the Big Band and sing some swing," he said.
"Its a fabulous community to come in to. With the help of the council, this town has made the event bigger than what we had even imagined, and that doesn't happen often.
"That's a reflection of the city and what it's like."
"It will be not just a great event for Mount Isa and all the kids, but it's going to be a really memorable event for us too."
