The format for the round was an 18-hole Stableford event and, despite players with early tee times being confronted with cold, blustery conditions, several strong results were carded by the late groups as the wind settled down across the course.
Andrew Richardson claimed A grade honours and the Mount Isa Golf Shop trophy with 41 points, followed by runner-up Grant Poole on 39 points.
B grade bragging rights went to Sam Bellinger, who backed up his strong Open performance with a grade-winning 45 points.
Will Ellis carded 42 points for his round and was named B grade runner-up.
In C grade, Kel Burnham’s 43-point round was enough for a four-point victory ahead of Max ‘Buzzy’ Fietz.
Burnham showed a mastery across a range of clubs by also claiming the nearest to the pin prize on the 17th hole, with Peter Montgomery (fourth hole), Richardson (sixth hole), Bill Ellis (eighth hole) and Mark Roberts (11th hole) also collecting accuracy prizes.
While several players showed deft touches with the short irons, Mark DeBerg was well and truly the clear-cut approach champion on the day, bagging pin prizes on the fifth, 10th and 14th holes.
Teams battled it out in round four intraclub pennants matches on Sunday, with Ladies belting the Golf Shop Wackers 4-1 in the first match of the day.
It was a similar result in match two, with the Prickle Farmers toppling the NZERS 4-1.
Legends Come Lately were too strong for Muppets in the final match of the weekend, chalking up a three-and-a-half to one-and-a-half victory.
