MOUNT Isa is getting ready to rumble with fighters from all over the North West preparing for tomorrow night's boxing extravaganza at the PCYC. The first boxing meet of the year, Fight Night, follows on from last year's hugely successful night of boxing. Boxers from Cloncurry, Doomadgee, Mount Isa and even Longreach will converge on the Mount Isa PCYC for the action-packed event, which boasts both junior and senior cards.

PCYC boxing instructor Chris Taylor credits the popularity of the PCYC's classes to the sports meteoric rise.
"It's going really well at the moment, we're getting full classes of a Tuesday night with about 60 per cent females and 40 per cent males," he said.
"They don't necessarily want to fight, it's just about doing the boxing for fitness.
"We're hoping to back up last year's bout in December, this time we've got Longreach coming up and we'll also have female fights for the first time."
Taylor said the line up was sure to entertain, with several draw card fights almost certain to go the full distance.
"We've got a few local boys, including Brayden Jones who will be fighting Cloncurry's Krystian Bevan in a rematch of last year's bout," he said.
"Another one to watch will be Mick Atholwood who will feature in our first every heavy weight fight (100kg), he will go blow for blow with Longreach's Mark Vinnicombe.
"And of course Margot Smith, as she prepares for her first ever fight against Doomadgee's Anne Singh in the demonstration then Longreach's Kate Rose in the senior program."
PCYC Rodeo Queen entrant Cara Nolan will be the master of ceremonies.
The junior session commences at 5.30pm while the senior's touch gloves from 7.30pm.
