The Carter Sheds Mid-West Rugby League fixture commemorated the one-year passing of Wanderers' legend Trevor Chong, who will be remembered through an annually fought match between the two sides.
On this occasion it was Wanderers who were victorious, led by a hat-trick to centre Sean Heffernan and two tries each to Matt Toby and Dan Goddard.
Cody Saltmere, Anton Saltmere and Joel Gocks also found the line for Wanderers in a commanding performance.
Wanderers' coach Anton Saltmere, a close friend of Chong, praised the performance considering the emotional circumstances.
"They played great today, I'm really proud of them," he said.
"I can't really pick any standouts today, I thought it was a terrific team effort.
"Everyone, including the boys on the bench, really showed up today everyone really put their hands up."
Offence has been the buzz word of the competition this year, as teams rack up unprecedented point tallies.
This week, Wanderers were exception to the trend, keeping Town to just 20-points.
"We've been working really hard on our defensive patterns at training, and it really paid off today," Anton Saltmere said.
"I thought we held onto the ball well today, we really starved Town of possession and made sure the defenders had to do as little work as possible."
For Town it was their second consecutive defeat, following last weekend's shock loss to the Bulls.
Travis Willetts and Germaine Paulson scored for the Lions.
In Cloncurry, Doomadgee Dragons rained on Hughenden's parade, winning by 50-points.
The Bulls were backing up their first win of the season, but ultimately found themselves outclassed by a ruthless Dragons outfit, going down 66-16.
Doomadgee's win put a stop to their three game slide.
