Stanwell chief executive officer Richard Van Breda met with staff yesterday outlining changes to the company, including the closure of three electricity-generation units and the loss of two of the station's three customers which will move to the Diamantina Power Station from April.
Twenty eight of the current 62-strong staff will be progressively lost during the next 12 months and workers on fixed term contracts will leave when their contracts expire. MMG will continue to source their power from the Mica Creek Power Station, as well as the upcoming Dugald River project, meaning some staff will be kept working to maintain the facility.
A representative said yesterday there would be no forced redundancies but Stanwell was calling for expressions of interest for voluntary redundancies and would consult as required.
