Cloncurry born-and-raised candidate Lily Charles, 24, said all of the contestants recently completed a deportment class to help mould them into the perfect representative of their local show society.
Miss Charles said she never knew there were so many ways to be polite at the dinner table - something she would practice at tonight's dinner.
"There are definitely a few things I needed to work on," she laughed.
"The one thing was the table manners, how to hold your fork and spoon and what goes where on a table.
All of the contestants will be asked to showcase their public speaking skills, answering a series of questions from Cloncurry Shire Council CEO David Neeves.
Miss Charles said despite being nervous about getting up in front of the crowd, being a local could give her the upper hand.
"I grew up here and I have a connection to the community whereas a lot of the other girls are quite new to town," she said.
"It gives me an advantage but it's also a little bit of pressure."
Tickets can still be purchased for the dinner from Lilly Jane's Boutique, Read It Again Books, Lemmon's or Louise Campbell at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School.
Guests will receive a complimentary drink on arrival followed by a shepherd's pie dinner and dessert.
