The city now boasts a junior mayor, deputy mayor, chief executive officer and a team of councillors.
Toni Bennett was given the honour of mayor, supported by deputy mayor Emily McKavanagh and CEO Matthew Hutchinson, all from Good Shepherd Catholic College.
Councillors Kevin Whelan, Brad Watt, Vashti Cherian and Thomas Cook from Spinifex Senior Campus, Bailey Paradine from Mount Isa Flexible Learning Centre and Ben Crick from Good Shepherd complete the team.
Cr Bennett said she would like to create more youth orientated events for the city, including Lights for The Lost suicide awareness events.
"We would also like to encourage more volunteer work in the community and help with rodeo and things like that," she said.
"It's definitely important for the youth council to exist so it gives a voice for the youth and raise money for charities by doing this.
Cr Bennett said they were excited to receive a grant of $1000 by the Mount Isa City Council and would use the money to assist with future events.
Chair of Youth & Environmental Management, Cr Jean Ferris led the first meeting and said she was passionate about giving the youth of Mount Isa a voice and helping them to get what they need from the city.
