MICO's Continuous Improvement department was created with an objective to increase mine life and future investment into exploration and open pit projects which are currently being undertaken within its copper operations.
MICO general manager Mike Westerman said the focus of the department lay within five areas - safety improvements, environmental and and efficiency improvements, cost saving measures, value creation and improving inefficient systems and tasks.
"The program has been very effective in capturing and implementing suggestions from our employees with 570 ideas submitted since the program's inception" he said.
