Mason, from Buladelah in New South Wales, said the Mount Isa leg of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Tour was one all competitors highlighted on their yearly schedule.
"It's always a good show up there in Mount Isa," he said. "It's probably one of the bigger ones for the year...everyone looks forward to going."
The two-day event will commence tonight from 6.30pm at Buchanan Park, before finals take place tomorrow.
Mason is currently in third place on the official PBR rankings, and claimed this weekend's ride had added significance ahead of finals in Sydney.
"There's only a few shows left for the year so it's certainly pretty important in the context of things," he said.
"Hopefully I can get out there tonight and keep doing what I've been doing...I'm certainly not going to merely make up the numbers."
This year has been a stunning return to form for Mason, after breaking his leg in the first event of the Cup Series in November last year. Mason unbelievably went on to ride a further two bulls before mentioning the problem to medical officers.
A reflection of his sheer will and determination, Mason has rebounded spectacularly this season to record six top 10 finishes, while also notching his first ever PBR event win at Bundaberg.
The aforementioned qualities make him one of the riders to watch tonight, as Mason strives to qualify for his second PBR Australia National Finals and similarly, a tilt at the PBR Championship Buckle.
