This Sunday Urquhart Street will come alive with tree-planting activities hosted by Southern Gulf Catchments and a number of local sponsors.
SGC environment project officer Mick Brady will be out at the Tharrapatha Way plant site pre-digging holes, piling mulch, organising irrigation and firing up the barbecue to feed everyone after a hard day's work.
He said the Soldiers Hill public pathway was the perfect area to plant at this weekend.
"There's plenty of room there and we've planted there for the last three years in stages," he said.
"Now we are planting to extend the gardens in those areas."
Residents don't need lots of equipment or special skills to get involved according the the organiser.
Mr Brady said all people need to do was wear closed in shoes and a hat.
"We've got everything you need here but some people like to bring their own gloves."
The Mount Isa National Tree Day planting will be held on the Urquhart Street riverbank (across from Kokoda Street) from 2pm to 5pm this Sunday.
