The group of Karumba residents checked their final tally on Monday and handed over $47,221 to the Cancer Council.
It took their grand total raised for the charity to well over $150,000.
Although organiser John Moran said the event wasn't about breaking records the group was happier than ever with the generosity shown by communities in the Gulf and North West regions.
"A lot of that was due to the presence of the Melbourne Cup," he said.
"The Victorian Racing Club needs a big pat on the back for bringing the cup up here."
Mr Moran said the money raised would all go towards helping people from his region get support when travelling to Cairns for cancer treatment.
"The money we raise goes to the Cancer Council of Far North Queensland, we work through the office in Cairns," he said.
"People who have to come from the Gulf for their treatment when they are struck down with cancer, a lot of this money will go towards people that come from this area and need to travel for treatment."
