You're always warned to avoid yellow snow but when it's the yellow label of a bottle of Veuve Clicquot against Thredbo slopes it's a welcome sight.

And for the Clicquot in the Snow weekend, there was a hell of a lot of yellow: ski jackets, knee rugs, umbrellas, earmuffs, snowboards, sunglasses – it looked like a wayward child had attacked the alpine village with a yellow highlighter.
Clicquot in the Snow started in Aspen, Colorado, in 2007, and this is its third year at Thredbo. It has become a champagne pilgrimage for Sydney celebs. This year's snow bunnies included Cheyenne Tozzi with her boyfriend Tyson Mullane, Sam Armytage, Gracie Otto and the trifecta of Holmes a Courts – Tim, Charlotte and Bridget. The four-day weekend kicked off with a jam-packed welcome party followed by daily on-piste brunch sessions. A champagne-fuelled tube-a-thon proved most celebs would rather take a spill on the snow than spill their drink at the ice bar.
AFL WAG Rebecca Judd brought her sister Kate Twigley, who's from Perth and had not seen snow before, so she spent all weekend making snow angels and throwing snowballs. Home and Away pocket rocket Rebecca Breeds and her fiance Luke Mitchell were hitting the slopes hard on their snowboards in preparation for their honeymoon at Whistler early next year.
Everyone attempted to ski or snowboard with varying degrees of success. I'm ashamed to admit I tried to trip a Milo kid when he whizzed past me at great speed. Luckily, he easily avoided my snowploughing.
I discovered snowboarders still use the words "rad" and "gnarly" – they really are the surf-rats of the snow. Girls, if you're looking long term, you'd date a snowboarder but you'd marry a skier.
My highlight of the trip was the Clicquot in the Snow picnic at the spookily named Dead Horse Gap. On a blanket of white snow, we sat on picnic rugs snacking on oysters with a champagne jus and scampi with caviar, cooked on a barbecue on site. All washed down with magnums of Clicquot. An exceptional excuse to get pissed en piste.
