He said this year was the first time since 1982 a weather station in Mount Isa recorded three consecutive days of more than 43-degree heat.
``We've never recorded three days of over 43 out at the airport so that's the first time that's happened,'' he said.
``It occurred previously at Mount Isa Mines some years ago back in 1982.''
Mr Adams said the top temperature recorded on New Year's Day - 44.6 degrees - was also the third warmest day ever recorded at the airport and came in just shy of the January 1990 record of 45.9.
December 1990 still holds the record for hottest month but this year's heatwave wasn't far behind with nine consecutive days of more than 40-degree heat.
``We might start to see some storms midweek . . .,'' Mr Adams said.
Urandangi recorded a top temperature of 47.3 on Thursday while Julia Creek crept up to 45 on Wednesday and didn't drop below 44 for the week.
