The Man Vs Food meal, consisting of a 1.2 kilogram rump, 10 onion rings, 500 grams of chips, a small salad and 200 grams of coleslaw, is to be eaten within 30 minutes for the chance to win $1000 for a chosen charity.
The Isa Hotel general manager Peter Sullivan said that after the meal's launch on Australia Day, it would become a staple item on the menu, challenging diners to finish it to get their name on a plaque and take home a special steak knife and bib.
``We'll set up a couple of long tables on the deck and have the challengers all lined up, we've got Bob Katter as the official, and it's the first person to finish the whole meal that will win the prize,'' he said.
Six people have already put their name down and paid their $50 entry fee to take on the monster meal, but with 30 spaces available there are still spots open.
``It's not just big guys who have registered either,'' he said.
``One of our staff members, Christine O'Toole, is an 18-year-old girl and she's going to take it on,'' Mr Sullivan said.
``We're hoping a few representatives from sport teams and community groups will come forward for the chance to win a bit of cash for their organisation.
``We'll also have a few extra chefs working on the day to be able to cook up 30 huge steaks and have all the meals prepared to come out at midday.''
The Isa Hotel has had to order special plates to accommodate the feast, measuring 36 centimetres in diameter.
``We'll be launching the meal on the menu after Australia Day, but it's just something good to include on the day, and we'll also be launching a kid's area with facepainting on the day too,'' he said.
Entrants can register and pay their $50 at the hotel before January 26, with spectators allowed free entry. Contestants will arrive at 11am to hear the rules and regulations before the event starts midday.
