Jneille Kristie Marie Portch, 18, pleaded guilty to one charge of common assault yesterday over the incident, where she approached the victim from behind and punched her at her place of work.
The Mount Isa Magistrates Court yesterday heard the victim and Portch had verbally argued the day before, and several comments had been made on Facebook relating to the victim inviting her to fight.
Portch had approached the victim, an employee of Kmart, at 4.50pm after she recognised her from the previous day.
There was a scuffle between the two and the victim eventually attended the hospital with complaints of feeling ill.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Martin Longhurst told the court the offence was highlighted by recent social commentary and similar occurrences, and the fact it was a high-range common assault charge.
Magistrate Rod Madsen told Portch there were better things she could have done to resolve the issue.
He placed her on a good behaviour bond to the value of $1000 for 12 months, and ordered she have no contact with the victim but to pay her $300 in compensation.
