The Club Angels were always going to have a hard day at the Bowling Alley, but it was even harder a player short.
There were a couple of tight games, but the Angels ultimately had no answer to Bowling Alley CPR, who recorded a 17-0 victory.
CPR performed brilliantly as a team and has set up a strong foundation for the rest of the year.
Meanwhile, one of the early favourites, the Irish Club 303s, didn't have too many issues in dismantling the Boozers.
Jason Graham led Dave Lynton, Andy Allen and AJ Saunders as the 303s cruised to an 11-point victory (14-3).
Boozers' captain Scott Meggarrity toiled hard but it wasn't to be.
The Club Hustlers have their sights set on a maiden finals appearance in 2014 and appear well on their way, following an 11-point demolition job on Club Demons.
``Eggy'' Egmolesse, Garth Apps, Peter Burgess and Christina Hinds all shone for the Hustlers, but now they must find consistency if they are to make their presence felt in the competition.
The Irish Club Outlaws overcame a spirited Barkly Sheetahs to win their first match of the year, 11-6.
The Outlaws were expected to have little trouble putting away Sheetahs as they raced to an early 5-1 lead.
However, the Sheetahs were not about to put their cues away, matching the Outlaws 3-3 in the second set of singles.
Sheetahs then went on to take the doubles 2-1, but ultimately fell on the wrong side of the scoreboard in the weekend's closest outing.
John Tuimauga looks to be a great inclusion in the previously all-woman team and should ensure the team improves beyond its 2013 showing.
And finally, it was Buffs JMI who took home table bragging rights in the clash with the Buffalo Bills.
A close finish loomed as the first set of singles was split 3-3, but from there it was all one-way traffic.
Buffs JMI grabbed eight of the next nine frames, with Georgia Kereopa the standout performer.
