Revealing the theme for 2014, organiser Kate Brewster said a ``jungle safari'' was currently under construction at the civic centre.
``We are really excited,'' she said.
``Today we are unwrapping all the decorations and props, and will spend today and tomorrow setting up.''
Mrs Brewster said the biggest part of the jungle safari experience would be the decorations and the look and feel of the room on the night.
A ball known for its extravagance and surprises, she said everything was still all hush-hush for now.
``The thing that makes our ball stand out significantly from others is that we transport people to another place,'' she said.
``We can't reveal too much but prepare to be whisked away.''
North Queensland Copper Assets chief operating officer Mike Westerman said Glencore was proud to be involved with the event and charity.
``Our last major investment in Ronald McDonald House was in 2012 when we donated $1 million,'' he said.
``To see that money go towards building an additional 12 rooms to the Ronald McDonald House in Townsville was extremely satisfying.''
Mr Westerman said that last year 200 families from the North West area stayed in the new rooms, including some Glencore employees.
``We are happy to see that, that contribution has benefited the local communities in which we are operating,'' Mr Westerman said.
