The region's junior soccer competition will host a sign-on day on Sunday at the Mount Isa Soccer Fields from 4pm, with Atlas, International, Parkside and Squirts all in attendance.
Club representatives will be busily taking signatures of budding Tim Cahills until 6pm, with friendly fixtures set to start the following Sunday from 8.30am.
Mount Isa Junior Soccer president Lisa Reddicliffe encouraged families to bring their kids down on Sunday, even just to have a look.
``It's a really good family environment to play in and it's open to everyone,'' she said.
``We have lots of kids, and children get the chance to make plenty of friends their own age.
``The grounds are great to play on and we've got plenty of refurbishments happening.''
Because summer sports like cricket and swimming are yet to finish their season, Reddicliffe revealed junior soccer matches would be held on Sunday mornings.
``Initially the friendly matches will be used to sort teams out,'' she said.
``We will start our main fixtures on Saturday in March.
``Friendly matches start next week to get teams and divisions sorted.''
Squirts will not participate in the friendly matches but training for all teams will begin next week.
The 2014 season is shaping as a huge year for junior soccer, with Reddicliffe revealing that the under-12 girls state soccer championships would be held in the North West.
Reddicliffe and Mount Isa soccer are also in talks to bring the Brisbane Roar's development coaching team to the region for a series of clinics.
``They did say they were prepared to come here so I'm hoping that will happen in the next couple of months,'' she said.
Reddicliffe also paid tribute to businesses within the community who had helped prepare the Mount Isa soccer fields for the upcoming season.
