Inspector Trevor Kidd said he couldn't disclose the methods used by police to track down the Mount Isa teenager but confirmed they were looking down every avenue and investigating every piece of information.
Just before 1pm Inspector Kidd confirmed the search team planned to search The Junction on foot and with vehicles this afternoon as a precaution.
He said the 20-man search of the Leichhardt River bed and locations between Soldiers Hill and Kyle’s Parkside home would continue until the sun went down tonight.
“We’re hoping for a positive outcome but it’s so important to get that information from the public on board,” he said.
“Every little bit can help."
Inspector Kidd said Police were working closely with the Coleman family and Kyle’s friends to re-trace his movements after he left a friend’s house on Saturday morning.
“Members of the public and friends of the family have come forward to help so we’re coordinating that with our search efforts,” he said.
“We appreciate the support people provide… no one likes to see a person missing.”
