The major search and rescue effort conducted by Police and State Emergency Services that spanned over 300 km of the region wrapped up this week, but police said they would continue to investigate every lead.
“We’re still doing searches when information comes to hand and tasking officers on patrol to check areas,” Mount Isa Inspector Trevor Kidd said.
“We need some information or for someone to come forward to give some closure to both families.”
Kyle’s missing person’s investigation took a shocking twist last Wednesday when his 21-year-old friend, who was camping outside of Camooweal with the teenager the day before he went missing, was found dead inside his Skewes Street home.
Searches of the city, surrounding areas of Mount Isa and Undilla Station, outside of Camooweal, went on for nine days.
Inspector Kidd said there was still a large investigative component going on behind the scenes that would continue to follow up on information and conduct searches.
Kyle is described as Caucasian with tanned complexion, sandy coloured short hair, hazel eyes, slim build and approximately 173cm tall.
He may have been carrying a green swag and backpack and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with a white motif, white flat cap (‘Obey’ brand), light coloured shorts and skate shoes.
