Mr Breen chaired the board for the past six years, and before that filled a range of rodeo committee roles including vice-chairman, secretary and handling merchandise.
The new chairman is Darren Campi.
Mr Campi and Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo manager Natalie Flecker acknowledged Mr Breen's significant contribution to rodeo, including his most recent role over the years as chairman.
``The board, the Rotarians and the entire rodeo community would like to thank Greg for his many years as chairman and his valued contribution to the ongoing success of the event,'' Ms Flecker said.
``There's no doubt he helped raise the quality of the rodeo to world class and helped transition the event from Kalkadoon to a new purpose-built venue.''
Mr Campi also paid tribute to Mr Breen, saying he was looking forward to continuing to work with the rodeo committee.
``They are a professional and committed team and we are well into planning for this year's event,'' he said.
This year's Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo will be held from August 8 to 10.
