We've heard parents express their anguish time and time again when their child is missing.
Kate McCann said this about her missing daughter Madeleine.
``The longer it goes on the worse, I think, it becomes. At first you get swept along by all the support, but now I'm thinking `How long will this go on?' and How long can you put your life on hold?'' she told UK media.
Sadly, this has probably become the daily reality for the parents of missing Mount Isa teenager Kyle Coleman.
He has been missing for more than a month. Police have exhausted all leads and have been left baffled about what happened to the 17-year-old.
The community has banded together to help the family find answers.
A 14-year-old boy, who has never met Kyle, started a Facebook page called Please help find Kyle Coleman.
The page has more than 12,000 likes, posts regarding Kyle's disappearance have been shared right across Australia, his story has been shared nationally and many Mount Isa residents have changed their Facebook profile picture to a poster calling for answers.
The community has hosted fund-raisers to help the family continue the search and there are posters asking for answers throughout the city.
People have volunteered their time to continue the search for Kyle, an arduous task given the heat and countless waterways that need to be painstakingly checked for clues.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that one of Kyle's favourite magazines, Australian 4WD Action Magazine, had shared a link to a story seeking answers about his disappearance.
While the family have decided not to speak with The North West Star (and we respect that decision), we did share a message that Robert and Sonia Coleman shared on Facebook shortly after his disappearance.
``Robert and Sonia Coleman and family would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all the support from the Mount Isa community,'' she wrote.
Updated information on the Please find Kyle Coleman Facebook page says Kyle was last seen in a silver/gold dual cab Colorado at Mount Isa truckport service station at 11.45am with his friend James Coleman.
James was helping police with their investigations before tragically taking his own life.
Mount Isa police have been tireless in their efforts to locate this boy.
Inspector Trevor Kidd, who is heading the investigation, has denied on more than one occasion there was any evidence to suggest a murder-suicide
He has also maintained there was no evidence to suggest that Kyle had left Mount Isa and that that would be out of character.
Inspector Kidd has said the likelihood of finding Kyle alive is now unlikely.
What is certain is that the family is going through hell. If anyone has information that will help police, they need to consider the ramifications of not disclosing it.
If you do hear anything that you consider posting on Facebook, do the family a favour and contact police instead.
