``Such a fab guy the world has lost one super brilliant person will miss you so much Kevin,'' one friend posted on The North West Star 's website.
The 27-year-old, who fell to his death from the Hard Times Mine headshaft on the weekend, was described as a ``ray of sunshine'' and a ``beautiful man'' with a ``huge heart and a great laugh''.
Mount Isa Police Superintendent Russell Miller said police were contacted about 5.30am on Sunday morning when Mr Browne had not returned home after a night out with friends.
Family and friends also took to social media asking people to keep an eye out for Mr Browne.
Superintendent Miller said police were still trying to piece together Mr Browne's final movements.
``If anybody has any information or has seen someone in the vicinity of Outback at Isa after midnight on Saturday, please come forward,'' Superintendent Miller said.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
Mr Browne, from Ireland, had been living and working in Mount Isa with his partner.
News of Mr Browne's death was reported in the Irish Echo newspaper.
It revealed the Irish Embassy had been in contact with the family of an Irish national who had died and was providing consular assistance.
