Premier Campbell Newman is leaving the Prime Minister's north Asia trade mission early and returning to Queensland to oversee cyclone Ita preparations.

Mr Newman was due to return from the trip on Saturday, but will leave the trade mission in Seoul and return to Brisbane on Thursday.
Director-General Jon Grayson will represent Queensland in the final leg of the tour in China.
Mr Newman made the decision to return after receiving a briefing on Ita and its path at 3pm.
Cyclone Ita is about 800 kilometres east north east of Cooktown.
Weather forecasters are warning it has the potential to be more powerful than cyclone Yasi, which devastated north Queensland in February, 2011.
