The cowboy from Walkerston (Queensland) scored 85.5 aboard Sniper in the final round to win Saturday night's event.
Storey finished with an average of 85 on the night, bettering the likes of Troy Wilkinson (84.5), Cliff Richardson (84), Ben Seeds and Jason Mara (83).
Now, filled with confidence and the customary tour points that accompany victory, Storey believes his season can really take flight.
``It's going to help me along with the rest of the tour and really help me in the standings,'' he said.
``It feels good to win, especially when you go out with a plan.
``You always go to a rodeo planning to win. It doesn't always happen, but when it does it's a good feeling.
``Now I cannot wait for the next event.''
Storey - who attended Dirt 'n' Dust for the first time in seven years at the weekend - was thrown off Johnny Ringo in the preliminary round, but found his rhythm when it mattered in crunch time to produce his winning score.
``The first bull [Johnny Ringo] had a few tricks in him, which is why I fell off,'' he said.
``Next weekend is Easter, so I'll be going to Roma and Emerald [to compete].''
Round 1 saw Wilkinson highest qualifier with 84.5 points, ahead of Richardson (84).
Kyogle's David Kennedy also advanced with a score of 79.5 but couldn't go on in the championship round.
