The best spot for royal watchers to catch a glimpse of the The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when they visit Brisbane on Saturday will be at South Bank.

But the opportunity to rub shoulders with the royal couple, or snap a selfie will be limited because the pair is scheduled for just a very short stroll along Russell Street to the Cultural Forecourt, where the Wheel of Brisbane stands.
Their walk will begin at 2.50pm on Grey Street, outside the ABC studios.
Prince William and Catherine will visit South Bank after attending a special reception at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre with Premier Campbell Newman and Governor Penelope Wensley, as well as 200 Queenslanders selected for their contributions to education, medicine, emergency and community services and sport.
For those who cannot secure a top vantage point, a big screen will be placed on the Cultural Forecourt to ensure all visitors have a prime view of the couple.
Visitors are advised to arrive in plenty of time and take adequate food and water, a hat and sunscreen.
Access to toilets will be available, but limited depending on crowd numbers. Visitors are also encouraged to leave umbrellas and chairs at home.
Russell Street will be closed from 5am to 5pm and Grey Street will be closed between Glenelg and Peel streets from 1pm to 5pm.
There will also be restricted pedestrian access in the area.

Prince William last visited Queensland in March 2011, when he met with community members and volunteers in the wake of Cyclone Yasi. He visited the hardest hit north Queensland town of Cardwell, before travelling to Tully and then Cairns. The Prince also travelled to Ipswich and Grantham and attended a Spirit of Country concert in Toowoomba.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip visited Brisbane in October 2011. They travelled down the Brisbane River to view some of the areas affected by the January floods and also took a short public walk through the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank on their way to a private reception at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. Finally, the Queen officially opened Rain Bank, an initiative to improve water efficiency throughout the Parklands at Rainforest Green.
Their visit coincided with The Queen's attendance at the 2011 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.
This was the first visit to Queensland by The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh since 2002 when they attended CHOGM at Coolum and visited Brisbane and Cairns. The Duke of Edinburgh also visited Roma.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited the central Queensland town of Longreach in November 2012. They named a new aircraft for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, toured the Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre and attended a BBQ co-hosted by the Governor.
