It was a day when Tom Berry and James McDonald shared the group 1 spoils with two wins each and shared the Nathan Berry Medal for the leading jockey in The Championships. Berry won the Queen Of The Turf on Diamond Drille and the Sydney Cup on The Offer, but the medal in honour of his twin brother means more to him. ‘‘Nathan’s medal means more than any group 1,’’ Berry said. ‘‘It’s just amazing, and it’s a credit to Nathan to have a medal named after him. The boys have been talking about it in the room and it’s something they all wanted to win. To share it with James [McDonald] is an honour. It’s probably the biggest day in my career and I don’t think I’ll be able to top this.’’ McDonald said it topped the day off for him. ‘‘This award is named after a champion bloke and to share it with Tommy makes it even more special,’’ McDonald said.
