The rover's owners Emma and Sean Harman will be driving Alice in a rally to raise money for cancer.
So far the Harmans have raised $2640 for the Cancer Council, but need to raise another $360 at the end of the month to be allowed to enter the rally.
They needed to raise a further $1000 before the rally began.
There is much to do before the rally begins, with the Harmans still seeking a UHF radio and a satellite phone for the lengthy trip.
Mrs Harman said Alice needed to be registered and to pass roadworthy tests, but was in the final parts of extensive repair work.
The rally - which requires participating cars to have cost less than $1000 - will begin in Perth on May 31 and finish in Darwin on June 6.
During those seven days Alice will be driving on isolated and rugged roads - even travelling the infamous Gibb River Road in the Kimberley.
Before Mr and Mrs Harman enter the rally they need to drive Alice 4500 kilometres to Perth within five days, cutting through the Northern Territory and driving across the Nullarbor Plains.
Mrs Harman said after the rally in Darwin the cars will be auctioned to raise more money for the cause.
The Harmans need to buy Alice in the auction to take them the remaining 1600km from Darwin to Mount Isa.
Mrs Harman said she believed Alice could last the entire trip.
``She would want to,'' Mrs Harman said.
``I do think Alice has a good chance of making it - I think being a four-wheel-drive, that's an advantage.''
