Fields remembers the visit as ``the moment I did not die.''
The year was 1982 and Fields was touring regional Queensland as a musical director for the production Snow White and the Seven Dwarves .
Fields had to leave Mount Isa at 4am after only two days in Mount Isa. He only had one day to drive the troupe of actors to Charleville in time for the next performance.
Fields drove into a herd of black cattle at a speed of 140 kilometres an hour. With ``three dwarfs and a butterfly in the back seat'', Fields was miraculously able to veer through the cattle and to continue the road-trip with only one more drama.
The steering wheel came off.
And this is how Fields remembers Mount Isa.
``I was never the same again,'' Fields said.
This visit Fields will not be accompanied by butterflies or dwarfs. He will instead be performing stand-up comedy at MINEX.
Fields has performed thousands of corporate gigs everywhere across the world as a stand-up comedian, including in Vietnam, Mauritius, and the US.
He claims to have the highest laugh rate in Australia due to his rapid style technique that leaves little opportunity for rude hecklers to steal the show.
Fields will perform at the event's closing function on Thursday, May 8 at Buchanan Park from 7pm.
The expo kicks off on Tuesday, May 6 with the fourth annual Mining the North West Conference and opening function.
There will also be a MINEX Mexican Fiesta on Wednesday, May 7. For details and to register visit http://bit.ly/1faySDR.
