After a four-year hiatus, this year's Mount Isa Show showcased a rejuvenated poultry section, showcasing some bazaar and beautiful birds.
Show poultry steward Ross Thinee said demand for a poultry group in the city was obvious.
"It was exciting to be able to create an interest for residents in the area of poultry once again," he said.
"My family was a little surprised as to the interest created, the number of different breeds, the quality, and the seemingly huge demand for chickens of all breeds.
"Alison McHugh and myself are keen to get a group together to ensure the poultry section stays strong and give Mount Isa another interest."
Mr Thinee said he'd been keen to hold a show-and-sell exhibit toward the end of the month for the newly-created club.
"The aim of the show is really a bit of fun, gather contacts, get an idea of who breeds what, and to get a guide on how your chickens are going from a breed perspective," he said.
"The "sell" side of it should invite plenty of public interest and I guess hopefully help gather more people we know are out there.
"We would expect people to bring chickens of all breeds if they have them, and if not eggs for incubation."
