The 17-year-old school-based trainee is completing his Allied Health Certificate III traineeship with MIGATE and was placed with the North West Hospital and Health Service while attending Spinifex State College in Mount Isa.
Elijah said he hoped to meet Tony Abbot during the National Youth Indigenous Parliament and raise issues of drug and alcohol use in North West Queensland.
``In the community I come from, Doomadgee [in the Gulf of Carpentaria], there's kids on the street walking all hours of the night,'' he said.
``There are a lot of young people that share drugs, and do alcohol and walk around drunk on the streets.
``I would like to raise a lot of awareness about that.''
MIGATE chief executive Ron Pertovt congratulated Elijah and said his team was proud to support the teen's endeavours in raising awareness of indigenous youth issues.
